About Rum River Tactical

Rum River Tactical has been in business since 2008. Initially we were located in Isanti, MN, just off the Rum River.  For 12 years Mike was an independent contractor, certified under the Society for the Advancement of Firearms Education.  In 2020, Rum River Tactical became their own certifying agency. 

Rum River Tactical, LLC is approved by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to certify Permit to Carry Instructors in accordance with Minnesota statute 624.714, Subdivision. 2a and we are listed on the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension website list of approved licensing agencies.

We are a licensed Limited Liability Company registered and in good standing with the Minnesota Secretary of State under the name Rum River Tactical, LLC.

Rum River Tactical is a certified Service Connected Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business.

Small classes ensure that each student gets individual attention in a small setting.  This also allows us to tailor each class to fit any specific needs of each student.

Our instructors teach from professional real world experience.

We understand the struggles of scheduling training among work, family, and social obligations and will work with you to find a date and time that may work for you.

Training always continues. After taking one of our courses, we will be happy to answer questions, help you chose a firearm for carry, and even spend some range time with you at no additional cost! It's just what we like to do! 

 Due to the importance of the training we offer, all classes are taught in person. There are important aspects to this type of training that simply cannot be property taught remotely. We put in the work because we want you to get the most out of your training! 

Instructors at Rum River Tactical come from a variety of backgrounds.  One thing we have in common is real-world experience. Classes are taught based on that experience.  All instructors are or have been professional instructors in military or law enforcement and have worked in real world situations where the the skills taught were used on a regular basis.

Classes are developed to not only meet, but to exceed the state requirements.  We don't believe in minimal training. 

We believe strongly in your right to a safe and peaceful life. You have the right and the obligation to maintain that safety and peace of mind for your loved ones.  While we hope you will never be in a situation where you will need the skills we discuss, we will be glad you had them if you ever do.
